An IDC Heath Insights report found one in three consumers will experience breaches of their healthcare records in 2016, according to Computer World.
Here are five observations:
1. Each year, healthcare fraud costs the healthcare industry between $74 billion and $247 billion.
2. Fraudulent billing comprises between 3 percent and 10 percent of healthcare expenditures annually.
3. The report found nearly one in six physician visits will be virtual by 2018.
4. Surgeons will utilize computer-assisted or robotic surgery techniques to help in planning, simulating and performing 50 percent of the most complex surgeries by 2018, according to the IDC report.
5. A Deloitte report found the overall cost of in-person physician visits globally is valued at $175 billion.
