Did the ACA help or hurt? 12 statistics on how voters feel ahead of 2016 election

Americans have varying opinions about whether the Affordable Care Act has helped or hurt their families, although many say they haven't seen a direct impact.

The Kaiser Family Foundation conducted a survey asking Americans — Democrats, Republicans and Independents — about how the ACA has affected them so far. The answers vary by party:

 

Democrats

 

1. Helped: 28 percent
2. Hurt: 11 percent
3. No direct impact: 59 percent

 

Republicans

 

4. Helped: 5 percent
5. Hurt: 48 percent
6. No direct impact: 46 percent

 

Independents

 

7. Helped: 18 percent
8. Hurt: 27 percent
9. No direct impact: 54 percent

 

Total

 

10. Helped: 18 percent
11. Hurt: 28 percent
12. No direct impact: 52 percent
