The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons will begin offering an open access publishing option for authors of manuscripts accepted for publication.
Here are five things to know:

2. AAOS' board of directors authorized the Open Access option for JAAOS on May 14.
3. JAAOS will offer the open access option to all authors whose work is accepted for publication after June 1, 2016.
4. William N. Levine, MD, of Columbia Orthopedics in New York City, is the editor-in-chief of JAAOS.
5. The AAOS includes more than 39,000 members.
