Medscape spoke to several physicians about their favorite vacation spots and compiled their recommendations into a report. Here's where your peers think you should go, if you're looking to get away.

1. The Greenbrier estate in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
P. Bradley Hall, MD, takes his family to the Greenbrier estate. It features 11,000 wooded-acres.


2. Carmel (Calif.) Valley Ranch
Charles Vega, MD, recommends the ranch for its 500-acres acres and its surplus of hiking trails, gardens and golf courses.


3. Bryson City, N.C.
John Mandrola, MD, frequents Bryson City, N.C., with his family for its mountainous surroundings and its museums, waterfalls and fishing.


4. Washington, D.C.
Mark E. Williams, MD, suggested visiting the nation's capital for the many branches of the Smithsonian Museum and monuments to our country's leaders.


5. Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Arlen Meyers, MD, advised physicians to visit the Buddhist temple in Angkor Wat and to tour the lush rain forested area.


6. Wilderness Medical Society
Gregory Hood, MD, recommends physicians looking to earn a CME credit to seek out the Wilderness Medical Society. The society organizes trips and experiences around the world.


7. Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Ariz.
Sandra Adamson Fryhofer, MD, escapes to Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Ariz., when she needs some time to unwind. It includes tennis, golf, hiking and several recreational classes.


8. Rosewood Mayakoba Riviera Maya Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Bert R. Mandelbaum, MD, enjoys Playa del Carmen with main attractions like relaxation, diving and food.


9. Sequoia National Park in Three Rivers, Calif.
Dr. Hood recommends the wooded confines of Sequoia National Park when looking for a spot to relax and rejuvenate.


10. Route 1 in California
Dr. Mandelbaum's second recommendation is traversing the winding coastal highway — Route 1 in California.


11. Wilmington, N.C.
Mark Williams, MD, offered up Wilmington, N.C. for your consideration with more than 230 blocks of landmark churches, classic architecture and antebellum-period homes.


12. Perdido Bay in Alabama and Florida
Dr. Hood made Perdido Bay his third recommendation for its natural beauty and its plentiful outdoor activities.


13. Napa Valley, Calif.
Arlen Meyers, MD, claimed Napa Valley with its 400 wineries and its thriving tourist-friendly accommodations are a place for "food, wine and fun."


14. Il San Pietro di Positano in Amalfi, Italy
For his splurge vacation, Dr. Mandelbaum finds himself in Amalfi, Italy. The coastal city has Mediterranean architecture and a wealth of historical artifacts including the nearby ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.


15. Waldorf Astoria in New York
When Dr. Hood and his family feel the need to indulge, they find a stay at Manhattan's Waldorf Astoria, near Park Avenue, 5th Avenue and Broadway.
