Since opening its doors in the late 1940s, Waterloo, Iowa-based Cedar Valley Medical Specialists has stayed successful throughout the years in the hands of many generations of orthopedic surgeons, according to The Courier.
John Walker, MD, opened the practice in 1940s and ran the practice for years until his daughter, Susan, met orthopedic surgeon James Crouse, MD. The two married and Dr. Crouse joined the orthopedic practice, with the practice continuing to expand over the years. The practice added Roswell Johnston, MD, an orthopedic surgeon who married Susan Walker's sister and then Dr. Johnston's son, Todd Johnston, MD, joined his family at the practice. Recently, the practice added Benjamin Torrez, MD, who is Dr. Roswell Johnston's son-in-law.
With the practice in the hands of family, Dr. Crouse feels comfort in taking a leave of absence through the end of the year. He will rejoin the practice in the spring 2017, telling The Courier, "I can leave the surgical part because I have good people to take over."
