The American College of Physicians implored the U.S. Senate to vote no on a budget resolution which would begin the ACA appeal process.
Here's what you need to know.
1. The professional group said the repeal process would stabilize coverage, resulting in tens of millions of Americans losing coverage, benefits and protections.
2. The group argued beginning the repeal without a suitable alternative in place is "unworkable and disruptive."
3. Instead of repealing outright, the group "welcomed" opportunities to improve the law.
The American College of Physicians specifically would like to see:
- Ways to stabilize insurance markets by bringing young people into them without disenfranchising older patients
- An expanded insurance marketplace
- Increased support of state innovation through Medicaid without undermining any of the programs benefits
