Mazor system used at Largo Medical Center — 4 details

Practice Management

Florida Spine & Neuro Center at Largo Medical Center has added Israel-based Mazor Robotics' Renaissance Mazor Robotics system to their spine and robotics surgical programs.

Here are four things to know:

1. Christopher Koebbe, MD, performed the hospital's first procedure with the device in January.

2. The Mazor plans the operation ahead of time with a CT-based 3D simulation of the patient's spine.

3. Dr. Koebbe said: "We have learned this robot is one of the safest and most accurate minimally invasive technologies for spine procedures…Minimally invasive procedures can mean less pain, smaller incisions, shorter hospitals stays and faster recovery times."

4. The approach also reduces the risk of fluoroscopy.
