Drug ratings tool allows physician-to-physician discussion of drug efficacy & safety — 4 things to know

Practice Management

SERMO, a social network for 650,000 physician members, launched its Drug Ratings tool.

Here are four things to know:

1. Drug Ratings is a global peer-to-peer prescription drug review system for licensed physicians.

2. The platform represents the largest global database of physician feedback on drugs.

3. Physicians may research, rate and share experience on drugs' efficacy, safety, tolerability, accessibility and adherence.

4. SERMO has conducted polls of more than 4,500 physicians in preparation for the release of Drug Ratings. Physicians reported:

• Drug reviews from other physicians would help inform their prescribing choices — 74 percent
• Feedback of another physician has changed their perception of a drug — 83 percent
• They don't possess all information they want about a drug before prescribing — 2 percent
• They trust recommendations from large number of physicians with product experience versus recommendations of small number of key opinion leaders/academics — 80 percent
• They believe physicians have better understanding of how a drug works than pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies or patients — 69 percent
