Hartford HealthCare Bone & Joint Institute partners with SimplyVital Health: 5 things to know

Practice Management

Hartford HealthCare Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital partnered with SimplyVital health, a blockchain, medical data storage company.

Here are five notes:

1. Under the partnership, SVH will manage and analyze total hip and knee replacement patients from first appointments to final treatments to reduce costs and improve patient recovery.

2. Previous research suggests orthopedic risk-based contracts cut costs while keeping quality high. SVH will use its ConnectingCare platform to manage patients' pre- and post surgery and monitor financial estimates.

3. The blockchain company believes maximizing savings demands simple access to the same data of shared patients across multiple providers. The Bone and Joint Institute hopes the ConnectingCare platform reduces cost and provides better care to patients.

4. ConnectingCare augments existing hospital care systems to extract data and create care pathway flexibility, prospectively track financials, maintain records and monitor analytics.

5. With 10 operating rooms and 48 inpatient beds, the Bone and Joint Institute provides diagnostic services, outpatient rehabilitation and comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
