Huntington, W.Va.-based Marshall Orthopaedics and Louisa, Ky.-based Three Rivers Medical Center entered into a new partnership that will result in orthopedic care five days per week at Marshall Health.
Here are four things to know:
1. Concurrent with the partnership, Huntington-based Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine named Akshay Goel, MD, an assistant professor in the orthopedic surgery department. Dr. Goal performs total joint replacements and treats sports related injuries, fractures and arthritis.
2. Dr. Goel originally joined the Three Rivers Medical Center in 2014 and will continue seeing patients at the clinic.
3. Dr. Goal earned his medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in India and completed his fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham. He also underwent an adult reconstruction fellowship at the University of Louisville (Ky.).
4. Marshall Health also includes the Marshall Sports Medicine Institute which has a walk-in sports medicine clinic, sports performance training and rehabilitation services.
