Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute opens hospital – next expansion project underway

Leawood-based Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute opened its newly renovated physician-owned hospital, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

Here's what you need to know:

 

1. The hospital wing expansion includes physician offices, inpatient beds and a new space for the groups urgent care center.

 

2. On the first floor, patients will have access to after-hour care for less sever orthopedic injuries, such as fractures, sprains and torn ligaments.

 

3. The second floor now holds 17 inpatient rooms, almost two times as many as before.

 

4. Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute began renovating its main building, adding three operating rooms. The additional rooms will bring the hospitals total to eight. The hospital will remain open during the renovations.

5. After the main building renovation, Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute plans to expand its staff from 35 to 50. Currently, the hospital employs 25 surgeons.
