Little Rock, Ark.-based CHI St. Vincent will open its $30 million Arkansas Neuroscience Institute in Sherwood on June 14, reports Arkansas Business.
Four things to know:
1. The 250,000-square-foot space will house the M.G. Yasargil Research & Education Center, which will focus on improving treatments, mapping the human brain and training neurosurgeons.
2. ANI has six neurosurgeons who perform over 1,000 procedures annually, including treatment for strokes, brain tumors and aneurysms. The hospital hopes to add four neurosurgeons in the coming years.
3. It features 10 beds for neuroscience procedures and a new operating room and pharmacy. Services will expand to performing epilepsy surgery and surgery for movement disorders.
4. Catholic Health Initiatives — CHI St. Vincent's parent company — is funding most of the project and CHI has fundraised $4 million to help with costs.
