The Fairlawn (Ohio) Planning Commission canceled a meeting to discuss a backup site for Akron, Ohio-based Crystal Clinic's orthopedic center proposal, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

What you should know:

1. The commission was expected to review Crystal Clinic's preliminary site plan to build its clinic in Fairlawn Corporate Park at its July 11 meeting, but the proposal was delayed. Crystal Clinic already has an approved site plan to build a clinic on Embassy Parkway in Fairlawn, but residents of neighboring Bath Township objected to the Fairlawn site and are attempting to stop construction.

2. The reason behind the meeting's cancellation was not specified.

3. Crystal Clinic spokesperson Rick Worrell told the Akron Beacon Journal that Crystal Clinic was proceeding with the Embassy Parkway site and viewed the Fairlawn Corporate Park site solely as a backup option.

4. The proposed clinic will feature 12 operating rooms and 60 inpatient beds. Crystal Clinic administrators anticipate opening the clinic in 2021.
