37 centers resuming orthopedic elective surgeries

Orthopedic practices are resuming elective surgeries with heightened safety protocols to protect patients and staff from COVID-19.

Here is a breakdown of centers that have returned or announced plans to return to elective procedures.

Arizona

Northwest NeuroSpecialists in Tucson returned to elective surgeries May 1.

California

Fremont-based Silicon Valley Orthopaedics restarted elective procedures.

Hoag Orthopedic Institute resumed elective procedures May 1.

Connecticut

Farmington-based UConn Health resumed elective surgeries in mid-May.

Florida

Gainesville-based Orthopaedic Institute reopened for elective surgeries May 4.

Citrus Orthopaedic and Joint Institute Plan in Lenock and Cape Outpatient Surgery Center in Sarasota also began performing elective procedures May 4.

Performance Health Surgery Center in Fort Myers, Legacy Surgery Center in Tampa, and 
Skyway Surgery Center in St. Petersburg resumed elective procedures. 

Bradenton-based Coastal Orthopedics resumed all services, including elective surgeries.

Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology in Vero Beach, Fla. restarted elective surgeries.

Orthopaedic Associates in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., resumed elective surgery or scheduled nonemergency surgery beginning May 5.

Georgia

Resurgens Orthopaedics' ASCs opened for all orthopedic surgeries and medical treatments May 6.

Physicians at Atlanta-based Ankle & Foot Centers of Georgia are restarting elective foot surgery at their surgery centers in accordance with CDC guidelines, the group announced May 12.

Illinois

Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is resuming elective surgeries May 11 in accordance with Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's recent guidance.

Des Plaines-based Illinois Bone & Joint Institute is returning to elective surgeries May 11.

Elgin-based Midwest Bone and Joint Institute will restart elective procedures at its five locations May 11.

With strict safety protocols in place, nonemergency surgery resumed May 11 at OAK Orthopedics in Bradley, Ill. 

Minnesota

Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Orthopedics is returning to elective surgeries at its ASCs on May 11.

Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic in Mankato, is resuming elective procedures the second week of May with new safety protocols in place.

St. Louis-based Orthopedic Associates resumed performing scheduled, nonemergency orthopedic procedures at the Des Peres (Mo.) Square Surgery Center.

Nebraska

Nebraska Spine Hospital reopened for elective procedures on May 1.

Nevada

As of April 8, Las Vegas-based Desert Orthopaedic Center is resuming elective surgeries but will continue offering telehealth appointments.

New Mexico

New Mexico Surgery Center Orthopaedics is progressively reopening for medically necessary nonemergency surgeries May 12. The center will operate at 50 percent capacity for the first two weeks it's open.

New York

After two months of seeing patients via telemedicine, Manhattan Orthopedic Care its reopening its offices for elective visits. The group's Manhattan office will open May 18, and its Staten Island office will open May 19, according to a May 13 notice.

North Carolina 

Capital City Surgery Center in Raleigh and Holly Springs Surgery Center in Holly Springs both resumed elective procedures. 

Ohio

Newark-based Orthopedic Specialists & Sports Medicine resumed electve surgery and scheduled nonemergency surgery after the state eased restrictions meant to preserve supplies.

Pennsylvania

Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia recently began performing nonessential surgeries again.

South Carolina

Physicians at Myrtle Beach-based OrthoSC are resuming in-office elective surgery while continuing to offer remote telemedicine visits and same-day clinic appointments, as of mid-May.

Texas

Fish Pond Surgery Center in Waco resumed elective procedures.

Houston-based INOV8 Surgical resumed elective total knee replacement procedures.

North Texas Orthopedics & Spine Center in Grapevine restarted elective surgeries.

Utah

St George Surgical Center resumed elective surgeries in late April. 

Virginia

Richmond-based OrthoVirginia returned to elective procedures May 1.

Wisconsin

The physicians at Brookfield-based Aspen Orthopedic Specialists are resuming orthopedic surgery and in-office care, the practice announced the first week of May.
