Construction of the $250 million spine and orthopedic tower at Huntsville (Ala.) Hospital stopped May 27 after a worker tested positive for COVID-19, WHNT reports.
Between 175 and 200 workers were on the site at the same time as the worker who tested positive. Several dozen employees also are awaiting test results.
A cleaning crew disinfected the construction site and office in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Construction began on the 375,000-square-foot facility in January, with completion set for the first half of 2021.
The seven-story tower will feature 24 ORs for spine and orthopedic surgery, 72 private patient rooms and house the hospital's Joint Camp program for joint replacement patients.
