Pueblo, Colo.-based Parkview Medical Center has plans for a new orthopedic facility, according to The Pueblo Chieftain.

Five things to know:

1. The orthopedic facility in Pueblo West, Colo., will be part of a new master development plan for the hospital. The plan also calls for an on-site comprehensive cancer center.

2. PMC recently completed a $70 million, five-year master plan with an emergency department expansion. The emergency department remained operational while work was done.

3. The master plan also included opening an outpatient surgery center and adding intensive care unit beds.

4. PMC added 13,000 square feet to its emergency department, which was outfitted with new mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing and medical gas.

5. PMC made space for the expansion — intended to improve efficiency — by relocating its radiology department.
