Some OrthoAspen surgeons not offered contracts after Steadman Clinic's acquisition

Practice Management

The Steadman Clinic signed a deal to acquire OrthoAspen earlier this year, and the Aspen (Colo.) Times is reporting that not all OrthoAspen surgeons will be part of the combined group.

Four things to know:

1. On June 25, some of the seven OrthoAspen surgeons received notification that Steadman would not extend contracts to them.

2. Aspen Valley Hospital sent the OrthoAspen surgeons six-month termination notices on June 1, allowing The Steadman Clinic to negotiate separately with each surgeon. Negotiations are taking place with surgeons that the Steadman Clinic identified for inclusion.

3. The Steadman Clinic has not released the names of the OrthoAspen surgeons joining the practice, but said it will release plans when negotiations are finalized.

4. The acquisition is expected to be finalized by December.
