Midland (Texas) Memorial Hospital and the Total Joint and Spine Center has been designated as an Orthopaedic Center of Excellence, according to a July 8 MRT.com report.
The hospital's spine surgery program received initial certification — its third orthopedic program to be accredited by DNV GL Healthcare — boosting its status to an orthopedic COE. DNV conducted its annual survey in June.
Srikanth Deme, MD, leads MMH's spine surgery program and Jessie Dickens, MD, serves as medical director for the hospital's total joint and shoulder surgery programs.
In December, the hospital acquired the Mazor X Stealth Edition spine robot, which Dr. Deme used to perform 15 procedures. Last month, it installed Stryker's Mako robot for joint replacement procedures.
MMH plans to hire more neurosurgeons for its spine program soon.
