Neurosurgeon joins growing spine program in Arkansas

Practice Management

Daraspreet Kainth, MD, is the latest neurosurgeon to join Mercy Clinic Neurosurgery at Mercy Fort Smith (Ark.), according to the Times Record.

The 16,000-square-foot clinic opened in 2019, with husband-wife neurosurgical team Kenneth Foxx, MD, and Kate Czerniecka-Foxx, MD, bringing 24-hour neurosurgery care back to Mercy Fort Smith.

The hospital had been without neurosurgical care since 2016 and turned away about 2,200 neurological cases each year, according to the report.

The team now comprises nine neurosurgeons, including Dr. Kainth, who began practicing at the clinic on March 15.

Before joining Mercy, he completed fellowships in endovascular surgical neuroradiology and integrated neurosurgery/orthopedic spine surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Dr. Kainth said he wanted to be part of the growth at Mercy, which is now "expanding the stroke program and spine services," according to the Record.
