Here are five orthopedic practices to know:

Coastal Orthopedics (Bradenton, Fla.)

Founded in 1973, Coastal Orthopedics has three office locations and one surgery center in Florida. The practice's physicians offer care in total joint reconstruction, spinal surgery, hand and wrist surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, foot and ankle surgery, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic (Arlington, Va.)

The Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic was founded more than 60 years ago by Otto Anderson Engh, MD, to treat children afflicted with polio. Its physicians perform joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, extremities and spine care and are also involved with the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute, which uses a computerized database of more than 10,000 patients with total joint replacements and post-mortem-retrieved hip and knee implants to study the effectiveness of treatments and improve patient care. The practice has four office locations in Virginia, and several of the surgeons are fellowship-trained.

Cincinnati SportsMedicine and Orthopaedic Center (Ohio)

Founded more than 40 years ago, the physicians at Cincinnati SportsMedicine and Orthopaedic Center treat knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, ankle and foot conditions. The practice is affiliated with the Cincinnati SportsMedicine Research and Education Foundation, which has fostered the research for more than 250 articles and 50 research studies. 

Connecticut Orthopaedics (Hamden)

Connecticut Orthopaedics was founded in 1963 by two orthopedic surgeons and has grown to include more than 50 providers across 20 locations. It is the largest privately-owned orthopedic practice in New England, according to its website. The practice offers services including joint replacement, pediatric care, podiatry, pain management, sports medicine and arthroscopy.

Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron (Port Huron, Mich.)

Founded in 1983, Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron has grown into one of the community's largest orthopedic practices. Eight physicians operate out of the practice and specialize in treatment of the back, neck and spine; foot and ankle; hand, elbow, shoulder and wrist; and reconstruction of the hip, knee and other joints.
