Orthopedic Associates of Hartford opens storefront clinic

Practice Management

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (Conn.) opened a storefront clinic in South Windsor, Conn., Hartford Business Journal reported March 18.

The 5,969 square-foot facility is in a shopping center and is an office for up to 20 orthopedic physicians, the report said. It offers specialized care, physical therapy, imaging and cast application and removal.

The center doesn't offer surgery. But the new location is part of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford's push into outpatient care.

"What’s happening in health care is that orthopedics is migrating from being inpatient to outpatient," OAH President Pietro Memmo, MD, said in the report. "This is really the first time that Orthopedic Associates of Hartford has gone a little bit more retail."
