The Brain and Spine Institute at UConn Health officially opened its doors on April 29 in Farmington, Conn., down the street from UConn Health's main campus.
UConn first established the brain and spine institute in 2021, and it has expanded to offer outpatient care in one dedicated location for neurology, cranial neurosurgery, comprehensive spine care and even radiology, according to an April 29 press release.
The Institute also houses the first location of UConn Health Imaging, a freestanding, nonhospital outpatient imaging facility offering MRI, CT scan, X-ray, bone density, breast mammogram and ultrasound imaging services.
The imaging facility will support the institute and accept referrals from UConn Health and community physicians.
Physicians treating patients at the new institute include L. John Greenfield, MD, chair of the UConn department of neurology; Isaac Moss, MD, chair of the UConn Health department of orthopedic surgery and co-director of the comprehensive spine center at UConn Health; Ketan Bulsara, MD, chief of UConn Health’s division of neurosurgery; Hilary Onyiuke, MD, the comprehensive spine center'’s founder and co-director; and Leo Wolansky, MD.
