Orthopedic, spine practices rush to consolidate: 10 recent deals

Here are 10 mergers and acquisitions of spine and orthopedic practices in 2024, as reported by Becker's since March 7: 

1. Podiatrist Colin Graney, DPM, closed his practice, and Madison-based Orthopedic and Spine Center of Wisconsin took over his patients' care. Joseph Sizensky, MD, leads foot and ankle care at Orthopedic and Spine Center of Wisconsin, which is part of Healthcare Outcomes Performance Co.

2. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Atlantis Orthopedics and Port St. Lucie-based South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine plan to merge by the end of May. The groups will operate under their existing brands and existing locations.

3. Peoria, Ill.-based OSF Health signed a clinical co-management agreement with OrthoMidwest.

4. Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic and Lafayette-based Louisiana Orthopedic Specialists plan to merge in the third quarter of 2024. Both practices will operate independently under their existing brands but share combined resources and expertise.

5. Washington, N.C.-based Agape Health Services reopened Roanoke River Orthopedics after acquiring it from Martin General Hospital.

6. NeuroCare Long Island in West Islip, N.Y., joined New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health. The practice, which has four neurosurgeons, will perform cases at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, N.Y.

7. Ascension St. Vincent Evansville (Ind.) added the physicians and staff of Evansville-based Midwest Neurological to its medical group.

8. Teaneck, N.J.-based Holy Name Medical Center added North Jersey Orthopaedic Specialists, which is based in the same city.

9. Congress Orthopaedic Associates and Risser Orthopaedic Group combined and joined Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai through the addition of two orthopedic providers who will provide orthopedic care to patients in Pasadena and Arcadia, Calif.

10. Rexburg, Idaho-based Upper Valley Orthopedics is now affiliated with Rexburg-based Madisonhealth.
