Practice Management

Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Children's Hospital has opened a $179 million orthopedic facility, according to a July 15 report from Columbus Business First.

The Livingston Orthopedic and Surgery Center will continue to relocate more specialties and departments through September.

The project was launched in 2021 and was completed on time and $25 million over budget, according to the report.

Outpatient surgery for all specialties, including diagnostics, surgery, physical therapy and fitting for orthotics and prosthetics, will move to the center from the main hospital.

Last year, the main campus saw 21,000 orthopedics visits, 17,000 outpatient surgeries of all types, 5,500 rheumatology visits and 4,300 for sports medicine. Each service line will have the capacity to grow 20% to 30% in the coming years, the report said.

The existing 24-year-old building housing the Children's Orthopedic Center is closing and will eventually be demolished, according to the hospital.
