Orthopedic practice suing over opening delays

Practice Management

Broomfield, Colo.-based BoulderCentre for Orthopedics is suing Infusion Architects, alleging the firm didn't complete its Broomfield clinic on time, BizWest reported Oct. 21.

Four notes:

1. The orthopedic practice filed its lawsuit in Boulder County District Court and alleged that Infusion made "a design error in the placement of the Surgery Center’s fire wall." The Broomfield location failed an inspection by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, and that pushed back the location's opening date from late May to July.

2. The lawsuit claims the error cost the practice more than $421,000 in losses since BoulderCentre for Orthopedics arranged operational expenses to begin April 12. Operational expenses include staff pay, rent, equipment leases and office supplies.

3. The practice invoiced Infusion to compensate for the losses but haven't been paid, according to the lawsuit.

4. BoulderCentre for Orthopedics and Infusion Architects didn't respond to requests for comment from BizWest.
