The University of West Florida in Pensacola (Fla.) has celebrated the opening of its new $6 million sports medicine facility.
The 10,000-square-foot Sandy Sansing Sports Medicine Center at the Darrell Gooden Center will provide expanded space for the university's 370 student-athletes and staffers, according to a Nov. 7 press release.
UWF Athletics collaborated with Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine on the space's design.
Through partnerships with Andrews Institute and Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, UWF health sciences students will earn lab hours and internship opportunities at the new site.
