UF Health breaks ground on orthopedic facility

Practice Management

Gainesville, Fla.-based UF Health has broken ground on a 24,000-square-foot orthopedic outpatient facility.

The UF Health Orthopaedic Surgical Center will support outpatient services for total joint replacements and other orthopedic procedures, according to a Jan. 8 press release.

The new facility will feature a da Vinci 5 surgical robot to perform less invasive procedures, making it the first health system in the Southeast to use the da Vinci 5.

The location will house eight operating rooms designed for orthopedic surgery. Currently, UF's Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute cares for more than 100,000 patients annually.
