The physician who reported being stabbed outside of his clinic in Virginia over pain medication prescriptions lied about the injury, according to an SWVA Today report, and is charged with making a false report.
After police officers found inconsistencies with Dr. Dugan's story about a man approaching him to "teach him a lesson" about prescribing more pain medications and then stabbing him, Dr. Dugan admitted he stabbed himself. Dr. Dugan reportedly thought he'd be fired or forced to resign from Fort Chiswell Medical Clinic, which Wythe County Community Hospital owns, according to the report.
Dr. Dugan reportedly thought being a stabbing victim would invoke sympathy from his employers.
