AAOS names Dr. Daniel Guy Board of Councilors chair: 4 key notes

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons named Daniel K. Guy, MD, chair of the AAOS Board of Councilors.

The Board of Councilors includes 100 members from state and local regional orthopedic societies and advises the AAOS Board of Directors and committees. The board also manages AAOS relations with state and regional societies and offers support to those societies.

 

Here are five things to know about Dr. Guy:

 

1. He currently serves on the AAOS board of directors and is a past president and board member of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society.

 

2. Dr. Guy practices at Emory Southern Orthopaedics in LaGrange, Ga., and serves on the staff of WellStar/West Georgia Health System. He has a special interest in shoulder and hip surgery and sports medicine.

 

3. Dr. Guy earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville (Ky.) and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. His additional training includes the A-O Fellowship in adult reconstruction in Bern, Switzerland.

 

4. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Guy is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and served on the WGMC board of trustees, including a stint as chairman of the board from 1998 to 2003.
