Dr. Douglas Lundy to chair AAOS Council on Advocacy: 5 things to know

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons named Douglas Lundy, MD, MBA, chair of the AAOS Council on Advocacy.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Lundy:

 

1. He is co-president of Resurgens Orthopaedics based in Marietta, Ga., and co-chair of the WellStar Musculoskeletal Service Line at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

 

2. Since 2012, Dr. Lundy has been the director of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is the current treasurer and chair of the oral examination committee. His previous experience includes time as the CFO-elect of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.

 

3. Dr. Lundy is the treasurer of the AAOS Orthoapedic PAC and a member of the Council on Advocacy. He has spent much of his career advocating for improving high-quality patient care.

 

4. Dr. Lundy is involved in foreign medical missions in Eastern Europe, Haiti, Asia and sub-Saharan Africa through Christian Medical and Dental Association and the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons.

 

5. He earned his medical degree from the Medical Collee of Georgia-Augusta University in Augusta, Ga., and completed additional training at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
