Brentwood, Tenn.-based TriStar Health is expanding its Nashville, Tenn.-based TriStar Centennial Medical Center, according to the Tennessean.

1. The Nashville-based HCA-owned hospital plans to add four floors and a joint replacement center to its TriStar Centennial hospital.
2. The project is valued at $123.7 million and is expected to be completed by early 2019.
3. TriStar Health decided to expand its orthopedics presence due to a growing aging population and competition with Vanderbilt Health in Nashville.
4. Vanderbilt has 10 orthopedic focused locations, including pediatric orthopedics and trauma, throughout the state.
5. TriStar Health received approval for the project in 2014. At the time, Saint Thomas Midtown began developing a $25 million joint replacement center. Nashville hospitals have invested more than $150 million in orthopedics over the last few years.
