Lafayette (La.) General Southwest converted into a comprehensive orthopedic hospital.
Here are five things to know:
1. The hospital, which is now named Lafayette General Orthopaedic Hospital, is a center of excellence and post-acute care facility.
2. Lafayette General Orthopaedic Hospital will retain the emergency department as well as imaging and diagnostic services.
3. Physicians at the hospital specialize in general orthopedics, reconstructive surgery and sports medicine, among other areas.
4. Lafayette General Medical Center acquired the hospital's cardiac services.
5. Orthopedic physicians will transition to the new hospital in early fall. The hospital upgraded its operating room and ancillary space. Next year, the hospital plans to open a skilled nursing facility.
