Ascension Wisconsin invests $2M in neurosurgery program at Milwaukee hospital: 3 notes

Glendale-based Ascension Wisconsin is setting aside $2 million for a new neurosurgery program at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee, according to Journal Sentinel.

Here are three notes:

1. Along with developing a revamped neurosurgery program, Ascension Columbia hired two neurosurgeons back in May. The neurosurgeons began offering services this summer.

2. As the second largest health system in the state, Ascension Wisconsin is using the investment as a way to position Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee to become a tertiary hospital.

3. The hospital plans to use the $2 million to purchase new equipment for the operating room and renovate a new clinic, according to a spokesperson for Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee.
