New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System opened the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai-Union Square, providing specialist care for elders.
The new facility is a one-stop-shop for patients and caregivers, offering access to physicians in over 20 specialties including orthopedics.
Nathan Goldstein, MD, chief of geriatrics for Mount Sinai Downtown said, "the idea was simple: give older adults the services and support they need to live with health and dignity."
MSHS currently encompasses eight hospitals, a medical school and a sizable network of ambulatory practices through greater New York, including 7,480 primary and specialty care physicians.
"From now until 2030, 10,000 baby boomers will turn 65 each day," said TV host and entrepreneur Martha Stewart, who presented MSHS with a leadership gift in 2008 to create the center. "This is the perfect time for leading academic medical centers and philanthropists to partner in improving care for this population and their parents."
