Cleveland Clinic plans to expand its main campus with a new building that will house its neurological institute.
Four insights:
1. The 400,000-square-foot center will combine services to provide subspecialty care for patients with neurological conditions.
2. The neurological institute provides care to 225,000 patients annually through clinical visits, surgeries and inpatient stays, with numbers anticipated to increase to 300,000 by 2025.
3. Cleveland Clinic also wishes to expand the Cole Eye Institute, which has seen patient visits rise from 130,000 in 2008 to over 310,000 in 2018, according to the medical center.
4. Groundbreaking is expected next year for the Cole Eye Institute and within two years for the neurological institute. The cost of the two planned facilities will be covered mostly by philanthropy.
