New Jersey orthopedic practice offers extreme lateral interbody fusion for spinal conditions

Practice Management

Freehold, N.J.-based Landa Spine & Orthopedic Center added extreme lateral interbody fusion to its list of spine procedures, reports Digital Journal.

Three things to know:

1. XLIF is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that treats leg or back pain caused by degenerative disc disease.

2. Aided by nerve-monitoring technology, spine surgeons can access the spinal column through a small incision in the patient's side and avoid impacting major nerves.

3. XLIF is performed through the side of the body and carries a low risk of complication as it doesn't require anterior or posterior exposure.
