Work progressing on UVA orthopedic clinic that was 'years in the making'

Practice Management

Charlottesville, Va.-based UVA Health is developing an orthopedic center near the University of Virginia that is the culmination of over a decade of work, local CBS affiliate CBS19 reports.

The center will consolidate all orthopedic care across the health system. It will feature hand, foot and ankle care, a spine center, a joint replacement center, a trauma center and a sports medicine center.

Bobby Chhabra, MD, chair of orthopedic surgery at UVA, said the center was first approved more than a decade ago and is the realization of a dream of his and several other surgeons at the university.

UVA expects the center will open in 2022.
