The Steadman Clinic, partners to provide orthopedic care at new $70M hospital

Vail Health is on track to complete construction of Dillon (Colo.) Health Center, a $70 million medical center that will specialize in orthopedics, among other services, Summit Daily reported Feb. 12.

The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., and Vail-Summit Orthopedics & Neurosurgery will provide orthopedic care at the facility, which will feature an ASC for outpatient procedures.

"The advantage to that is that they are less expensive than hospital-based services," Vail Health CEO Will Cook told Summit Daily. "People who before would have to go over the pass to have their surgery can now have it in this ambulatory surgery center, assuming that it's not something that's more acute and requires hospital care."

The hospital has hired all surgeons and physicians, but is still recruiting for other positions such as nurses, operating room technicians and surgery center roles, according to the report.

Construction of the 85,000-square-foot center is expected to be complete in the fall.
