Grafton, N.D.-based Unity Medical Center opened a $20 million expansion that bolstered orthopedics, among other specialty services, the Grand Forks Herald reports.
The 36,000-square-foot project expanded rehabilitation services and upgraded operating rooms with equipment, technology and lighting. "It's a better surgery experience all around, for the staff and for the patients," Kristen Pastorek, UMC surgery manager, told the Herald Feb. 27.
The final part of the expansion — an overhaul of the emergency department — is expected to be completed in late spring or early summer, according to the report.
The new ED will have a triage area, two trauma bays, two general treatment rooms, a nursing station and a pharmacy.
