Rancho Mirage, Calif.-based Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center is tripling its number of operating rooms in a $70 million expansion, Palm Springs Life reported April 8.
Six things to know:
1. The expansion adds 46,000 square feet with north and south wings.
2. Six operating rooms will be added, bringing the total to eight.
3. The new operating rooms will allow space for robotic equipment and spine cases.
4. The center will be able to have overnight stays, but most cases will be outpatient.
5. About 80 percent of orthopedic cases done at Eisenhower Medical Center can be done in the new space.
6. The expansion is close to completion and is expected to be licensed in the next two months, a spokesperson for Eisenhower Health said in an email to Becker's Spine Review.
