Carrell Clinic is celebrating 100 years since it was established by William Carrell, MD, the first orthopedic surgeon to practice in Dallas, according to the group.
In 2021, the 20-physician practice became part of a new orthopedic supergroup. It merged with five other practices to form OrthoLoneStar in January.
The combined entity has more than 150 physicians, over 40 locations and 1,000 employees.
OrthoLoneStar's board of directors comprises fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons representing the founding divisions.
"While we have grown and evolved through so many years of service, our commitment to the tradition of excellence at our foundation has never wavered, and it continues to be an important part of who we are as a practice today," Wayne Burkhead Jr., a sports medicine surgeon at Carrell Clinic, said in a June 22 news release.
Carrell Clinic is also home to a surgical fellowship-training program accredited by the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
