Rochester, N.Y.-based UR Medicine broke ground on its $240 million orthopedics and physical performance center, and construction is expected to begin soon, according to a June 24 announcement.
The groundbreaking marks the start of the project's centerpiece, a four-story patient care tower for orthopedic surgery. The project has created more than 300 construction jobs and will meet guidelines for LEED certification.
"The tower that we’re breaking ground on today will complete our vision to provide patients across Upstate New York one of the largest and most advanced orthopaedic care facilities in the nation," Mark Taubman, MD, CEO of University of Rochester Medical Center said.
