Rothman opens walk-in clinic for orthopedic patients 16 and older

Practice Management

Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute has opened a walk-in clinic for patients with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Philadelphia clinic sees patients ages 16 and older and treats injuries including sprains, strains, fractures and tears, according to a July 8 news release. The clinic has imaging tools, and patients can schedule follow-up appointments if needed.

Alexander Vaccaro, MD, PhD, said the clinic was developed as an alternative to emergency rooms and urgent care centers.

"We recognized during the pandemic that patients were skeptical to visit emergency rooms or traditional urgent care facilities, especially in the city, due to potential COVID-19 exposure," Dr. Vaccaro said. "The addition of the orthopedic-only walk-in clinic to our cornerstone Center City Philadelphia office will allow us to care for our patients in a safe, timely and more affordable environment."
