Texas hospital opens orthopedic practice with 2 surgeons

Practice Management

Two surgeons are seeing patients at a new orthopedic clinic at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (Texas), according to Brownwoodnews.com.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Hendrick Clinic Orthopedics was held Aug. 17. James Deal, MD, and John Masterson, MD, are providing orthopedic services at the facility, which includes in-house imaging.

The hospital wants patients to be able to "stay close to home to receive high-quality care," one of the reasons why the orthopedic clinic was opened, according to Krista Baty, chief administrative officer and chief nursing officer.

Surgeons performing knee and hip replacements will have access to a Mako robot, installed at the main hospital in May. Surgeons use the system to create 3D preoperative plans and to assist with precise implant alignment and positioning.
