Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute made its first foray into the Florida market in September 2020. Here's a timeline on how the expansion has progressed over the last year:
September 2020: Rothman Orthopaedic Institute partnered with Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth to develop a Rothman location in Florida. The long-term deal was signed Sept. 22.
A key factor in the collaboration is a $100 million medical office building that's expected to open in 2023.
October 2020: Rothman president Alexander Vaccaro, MD, PhD, spoke with Becker's about the expansion and the practice's strategy. He described AdventHealth as "the perfect partner" and discussed plans to bring 85 surgeons on in the next 10 years. Read the full interview here.
Alfredo Arrojas, MD, was recruited to join Rothman Orthopaedics - Florida.
Daryl Oshbahr, MD, was tapped as managing director and chief of orthopedic surgery of Rothman Orthopaedics - Florida.
December 2020: Sports medicine physician D. Harrison Youmans, MD, joined Rothman Orthopaedics - Florida.
February 2021: AdventHealth broke ground on Rothman Orthopaedic Institute's Florida headquarters.
May 2021: Rothman contracted with Cigna for in-network value-based care in Florida. The group had a longstanding relationship with Cigna prior to this new deal, which gives Cigna members in-network care at Rothman facilities.
June 2021: Rothman Orthopaedic Institute partnered with Aetna, a CVS Health company, for in-network care in Florida.
July 2021: Rothman Orthopaedic Institute has opened its first office in Winter Park, Fla., after expanding to the state last year.
