OrthoNebraska hit by email breach

Practice Management

Omaha-based OrthoNebraska was struck with a data breach that put some patient information at risk, Omaha World Herald reported June 30.

On Dec. 1, 2021, an unauthorized person or individuals gained access to an OrthoNebraska email account, the practice said in a statement. The practice learned that spam messages were sent from an OrthoNebraska email around Dec. 7.

An investigation found the affected data contained personal information, the practice said. There hasn't been any evidence that the information was used for identity theft or fraud. There also wasn't indication of access to medical records.

OrthoNebraska is offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to those affected by the breach.
