Here are 11 surgeons making the news:
1. Jason Rogers, MD, joined Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at Harbin Clinic. Dr. Rogers will begin practice with Harbin Clinic starting Sept. 1.
2. Joseph Lifrak, MD, and Christopher Chihlas, MD, joined SeaCoast Health in Swansea, Mass. Dr. Lifrak is presently the team orthopedic surgeon for the National Champion Providence Friars Men's Ice Hockey Team. Dr. Chihlas is an adjunct clinical professor at Boston University School of Medicine.
3. Tom McKenzie, MD, joined Group Medical Group in California. Dr. McKenzie will help the group expand their specialty services for the community.
4. The AOA Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors recently named a new governing committee. The committee includes:
• S. Elizabeth Ames, MD: chair
• Patrick M. Osborn, MD: member-at-large
• Paul J. Dougherty, MD: member-at-large
• Dawn LaPorte, MD: alternate
5. William Braaksma, MD, joined Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron in Michigan. He will begin his practice in September.
6. Andrew Pollak, MD, was appointed to Maryland Health Care Commission. Dr. Pollak also served as the medical director of the Baltimore County Fire Department and Special Deputy US Marshal.
7. Peter Ameglio, MD, joined Franklin Health Orthopaedics and Franklin Memorial Hospital. He has accumulated more than 15 years of experience in general orthopedics and specializes in sports medicine and joint replacement.
