Here are 23 orthopedic surgeons making headlines this week.

Ritesh Shah, MD, published his first book Pocket Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Shah provides orthopedic care at the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute in Chicago.

 

Jason R. Determann, MD, joined Foley, Ala.-based South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. Dr. Determann will provide care for patients at the Foley and Fairhope locations.

 

Southern California Orthopedic Institute welcomed Brian Dierckman, MD, and Eric l. Ferkel, MD, to its medical Staff. Drs. Dierckman and Ferkel both specialize in sports medicine.

 

Hanford, Calif.-based Adventist Health Physicians Network welcomed Christopher A. Verioti, DO, to its physician staff. Dr. Verioti specializes in sports medicine and completed his fellowship at Atlanta Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

 

Chief surgeons are traveling to New York to observe Leon E. Popovitz, MD, perform orthopedic surgery. Dr. Popovitz serves as the chief orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of New York Bone & Joint Specialists.

Daniel Judd, MD, joined Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Kauai, Hawaii. Dr. Judd focuses on trauma, orthopedic sports medicine, total joint replacement and foot and ankle surgery.

 

Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Mo., and Missouri Health in Columbia partnered with Douglas W. Kiburz, MD, and Ryan Kelly Edwards, MD. Drs. Kiburz and Edwards changed their practices name to Bothwell Orthopedic & Sports Medicine from its prior name of West Central Missouri Orthopaedic Surgical Services.

 

Thomas R. Cadier, MD, joined OrthoAtlanta and will begin seeing patients in Gwinnett, North Fulton and South Forsyth counties in Georgia. He specializes in joint reconstruction as well as hip and knee replacement.

 

Chicago-based Illinois Bone & Joint Institute welcomed Christian Skjong, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Skjong focuses on sports-related injuries of the hand, wrist, arm and elbow.
