Lawrence V. Gulotta, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
Dr. Gulotta specializes in sports medicine and shoulder surgery, and his clinical interests include arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder.
Dr. Gulotta earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston and completed both his residency and fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Gulotta has performed research on new ways to improve rotator cuff healing, as well as ways to improve the design and performance of shoulder replacements. He currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and Journal of Orthopaedic Research. He is also on the editorial board of the HSS journal.
Dr. Gulotta was the lead investigator in a study examining reverse shoulder surgery patients and their frequent return to sports.
