Dr. D. Kay Clawson passes away at 88 — 5 things to know

Orthopedic surgeon D. Kay Clawson, MD, passed away at age 88, according to Lexington Herald Leader.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. From 1975 to 1983, Dr. Clawson served as dean of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington.

 

2. Dr. Clawson was an executive vice chancellor at UK Medical Center for 11 years.

 

3. He is a founding member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

 

4. During his retirement, Dr. Clawson did private consulting for hospitals and medical schools.

 

5. Dr. Clawson earned his medical degree from Stanford (Calif.) University, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He also finished his general surgery residency at San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center.
